Because I can, and it felt appropriately sad as premise. Yes, I am aware their parents are in fact alive - if barely present. But beyond that, I see a lot of similarities and couldn't resist. First had this idea years ago, but never finished it until now (redrew the whole thing, to actually have anatomy n' shiz).

H2 pencil, inks, markers for foreground & characters, color pencils for the background.

Apologies for the class C quality background, but I just lost my patience trying to create 'dark and smooth enough' with color pencils, and digitally 'fixing' a traditional piece feels wrong to me.

Comparing to the scene, couple of things I'm already aware that are different: the flowers are white in the scene, the hammock is more red and less purple, the clouds are more 'individual fluffballs'... and pretty certain Lilo and Nani aren't ponies.
